The impact of blockchain technology continues to grow, reaching previously unthinkable highs and setting new standards. While cryptocurrencies were the first applications of this technology, its impact has spread to one of the most important aspects of modern life — the internet.

Web 3.0 remains the buzzword in 2022, maintaining its popularity from 2021. As the ‘3’ in its nomenclature suggests, it is the third generation of the world wide web and the most open version yet. It is the internet with data hosted on the blockchain, and it offers a lot of potential for everyone. However, one small problem remains — adoption. As of this moment, blockchain adoption is limited by a high barrier. Users face a significant financial challenge and technical knowledge requirement to build new blockchain applications. That was the case until the arrival of Forward Protocol.

Forward Protocol provides the toolkits to launch decentralized applications, operate them and manage digital assets in an easy-to-use, open and rewarding environment. In short, Forward Protocol makes dApps operation and Web 3.0 utilization more straightforward. But what is the web 3.0, and how did we get here?

Web 1.0

The first generation of the internet; it also earned its moniker as the read-only web. It was an open network with mainly static pages. Users accessed these websites and shared hyperlinks via emails without meaningful interaction on the website itself. It maintained a unidirectional flow of information. The end-user could only search for and read material published on a website without leaving any comments on the pages they visit.

While it was not perfect, it was an important step in developing the subsequent versions of the internet.

Web 2.0

Most of us grew into the Web 2.0 iteration of the internet, the version of the internet dedicated to user-generated content and ease-of-use.

Web 2.0 is user-friendly, which is immediately evident in the rise of social networking sites that followed its invention. However, it is also the centralized web where most of its advancements were funded by large companies. These mega-corporations also stifled the competition and collected user information on their databases.

Web 2.0 is not ideally suited to host data — personal data, credit card information, healthcare data, and other sensitive information are accessible to hackers. Web 2.0 is prone to data breaches, information loss, and network failure due to its centralized nature and poor security infrastructure.

In short, if you’ve used any Web 2.0 websites, your information is stored on a central database and has probably been involved in a breach a few times.

Web 3.0

Web 3.0 is the third and most recent version — the new trustless permissionless web. It is based on an open-source, transparent, and immutable framework and runs on blockchains like Ethereum and Polygon. Web 3.0 aims to fully connect and utilize artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), big data, and data mining technologies.

However, it is not the most accessible version of the internet. The adoption rate is low because blockchain technology has a high entry barrier. The average Joe does not understand or use blockchain applications, ergo, Web 3.0.

Web 3.0 needs to be adopted by a large enough number of users to reach its full potential — that is true decentralization in action. This is where Forward Protocol shines.

What does Forward Protocol do?

For a long time, creating and effectively running a website or personal blog was a job designated for a few bright minds — programmers. Along came WordPress — a simple application that allows anyone to create and maintain their website on Web 2.0, and it was a major game-changer for internet users.

Forward Protocol is regarded as the ‘WordPress’ of Web 3.0 for apparent reasons: It provides the infrastructure for anyone to create, deploy and maintain their Web 3.0 applications without having to code. It hosts these functions through templated smart contracts and applications, and other products that cover potential use cases for every class of potential users in this new and open ecosystem.

Forward Protocol uses a no-code interface that anyone can operate, even without any technical knowledge. This tempers the demand for blockchain developers, who are in incredibly short supply and extremely pricey to employ. Rather, it offers them more earning opportunities, as they can create and add to Forward’s smart contract library open-ended solutions for anyone that needs it.

Real estate developers, games, e-commerce websites, crowd-funding platforms, freelancing marketplaces, social networks, Q&A forums, organizations and more — any class of service providers and producers can move their operations to this open ecosystem without any serious financial or resource commitment. In fact, Forward Protocol makes it that it costs less to enter the Web 3.0 space than it takes to create a Web 2.0 website.

Blockchain projects and other blockchain developers can also create their products, deploy and integrate them to Forward Protocol to reap the rewards of their creation through parameters that they set by themselves.

Forward Protocol does not compete with anybody. Rather, it builds the link between users and Web 3.0 in a rewarding manner because of one strong belief — once the barrier to entry is removed, blockchain adoption becomes a no-brainer.
