Socialization: The Achilles’ Heel of Online Education?

Forward Protocol vs. Socialization — Friend or Foe?

Most of the allure of Blockchain technology is in its potential application in different traditional systems. So far, blockchain technology has influenced banking and financial systems, intellectual property ownership, and real estate, to mention a few. Forward Protocol presents the framework for a decentralized learning ecosystem that aims to change the way the world learns forever. However, some questions still need to be asked.

The dictionary describes education as the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. In recent times, we have learned that a complete education goes beyond the pages of a book. It also includes how these learners apply their knowledge to better their community.

Socialization

The traditional school system provides more than just education, especially for younger learners. It also provides a social melting pot, where children can interact with their peers in a controlled environment. However, in most cases, these curriculums churn out a few academically sound products, with an even larger number of graduates lacking in different vital aspects to succeed in real life with soft skills on the top of the list. Forward Protocol proposes a learning solution where these forms of physical interactions are no longer necessary. How does a learning system work without this integral part of education?

Social Integration

Children, especially the younger ones, are very impressionable. One has to feel sympathy for parents as they stumble through the red-faced apology, “they never learned that from us.” Maybe they did not, but these young kids soak up knowledge like sponges. That is why the quality of information and social interaction they get should be regulated by their foremost custodians — their parents.

Children in public and private schools are educated in approximate groups of 25 in optimal conditions. They are away from home for at least eight hours every day, including the commute, for approximately 180 days of the year. Parents do not have any real influence on the quality of education their children get.

Although traditional schooling systems facilitate social integration among children from different backgrounds, the spectrums of these interactions are limited. These children only interact with children from their age groups, class, and district. There are limited intergenerational interactions between these children. And when these interactions occur, they are not the positive experiences that they need to build character, for example, bullying and bad influences.

On the other hand, children educated in less formal settings have more meaningful, cross-generational interactions. These social interactions help shape them into more-rounded persons.

Equitable Societies

The quality of education that a child gets is a direct consequence of socioeconomic factors that they don’t have any power to control. In most cases, the education involves dilapidated buildings, underfunded departments, ill-equipped laboratories, and poorly motivated teachers. A solution such as Forward Protocol, where the burden on school administrators and governments is alleviated, could offer a better quality of education.

Also, for people who practically raise our kids, teachers are grossly underpaid. Parents were too happy to send their children back to school after the pandemic once it was safe. It highlights the importance of teachers to our society, but somehow, they get paid less than their peers with similar degrees working in different sectors. A solution like Forward Protocol guarantees them rewards for their efforts.

When parents become more active in their children’s socialization, teachers can focus on educating students. Forward Protocol’s modular approach to learning also allows parents to explore and choose the things they want their children to learn. They can also modify the curriculum for gifted learners and ensure those who fall below the average do not get left behind.

Forward Protocol

The education industry has been due for a restructure, and Forward Protocol presents a low-cost, effective solution. However, this legacy system has its defendants too. One of their biggest arguments is the socialization that children do in school. However, as we have pointed out, children would have even more opportunities to interact with their community if they did not spend so much time in school on an education that falls short in many aspects.

Also, we should not have to resort to the socialization factor to make an argument for traditional schools. These structures were built at significant costs to facilitate formal education before everything else. Failure to achieve this singular goal should not be papered over because they double as very expensive playgrounds where kids can run about without adult supervision.

Forward Protocol is not an e-learning platform and should not be mistaken for one. It facilitates a democratized, all-encompassing learning experience, irrespective of their sociodemographic classification. Sometimes, these classes are private, well-equipped, and adequately staffed laboratories, while other times, they can be sports modules in world-class gymnasiums. The possibilities are endless.
